Wayne Stobierski: most fun-loving, hardest-living party animal in Rhinelander, Wisconsin – he needs a chaperone to visit his own son.
David Sullivan (of cult classic “Primer”) plays Wayne a car mechanic living in the small town of Wisconsin. Wayne suffers from severe alcoholism, nervous problems and immaturity. Although his son Tyler loves his father, his son’s custody is shared by Wayne with his ex-wife Deidra (Tanya Fisher) and his new wife. Wayne's close relationship with his son is threatened after Deidra suddenly regains full custody of Tyler and informs Wayne that he intends to transfer him. Wayne surrenders to the judge and loses and with the devastating defeat of losing his son's joint custody, decides to have a special weekend for his son — a trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the city of their dreams and a talk of changing destinies. Director Niels Mueller slowly expands a family drama. One in which a bitter emotional conflict is formed with humorous cuts. It is a road movie with a combination of a story of friendship, a shaky family bond, and relationships based on lies. The protagonist spends long hours drinking alcohol and reacts semi-consciously to everyday family events. He is so involved in disorder and immaturity, he finds no way to escape from problems. Niels Mueller entraps Wayne in a circle of repetition. Wayne is sometimes lovable and sometimes unbearable. — Peyman Shahmohamadi, Red Rock Film Festival
